The MidloCANics will be holding an engineering summer camp for upper elementary and middle school students this July 21 through 25 at the high school. Tell your neighbors about it! . . . and save the dates on the calendar, so you'll be able to help out.

Wow! What a week this has been! On Monday the executive team gave a presentation to the Southport Business Association, followed by a visit to Senator Watkins and others at the capital on Tuesday, AND a visit to a local Boy Scout Troop that evening. On Thursday through Saturday we competed at the NASA/VCU regional competition. Although the standing didn't necessarily show it, you did well. The robot operated as you designed it and you all had outstanding attitudes. Congratulations on winning the Underwriters Laboratory Safety Award for the second year in a row.
Please plan to join us for our next meeting, this Tuesday at 2 PM in Mrs. Lee's room. We will be asking for your feedback on the year - what do you think well and what would you like to change.
See you there!

Only 6 days until competition! Remember to get your paperwork taken care of. We still have a few last minute jobs to take care of - remember to finish what you started. The first regionals will be held this weekend. Take a few minutes over the weekend to watch some of the competition.
Last meeting before competition will be after school Wed., 3/5.

Congratulations team! The move went very well. Thank you for your hard work in evacuating the field house. I feel like we moved everything with purpose such that we can find things if we need them.
The leadership and the PR team successfully submitted the Chairman's award last evening. Thank you to all that wrote essays and to those that worked on this part of the project.
Our next gathering is in room 108 Tues at 2:00.

We have now vacated the fieldhouse and left it cleaner than we found it. The shed still has a little room in it (amazing!), but Mrs. Lee's room is really full with Big Red, Big Blue, and all the things we need to take to competition. The chairman's award information weas submitted last night.
We'll meet again on Tuesday, after school, in Mrs. Lee's room. See you then!

The fieldhouse is much cleaner. Thanks to those of you who showed up to pack up tools for VCU and start the move-out process. Thanks also to the crew who built the new shelves. It is amazing how much more the storage shed will hold with your shelves in place.
Please come to the fieldhouse at 3 PM today so we can finish moving out. See you then!

Congratulations! "Delta" left for competition with Federal Express this morning 2/19 at 11:15 am. I can't wait to see how it will do in the competition.
I am very proud of all your hardwork. Don't forget about our move from the fieldhouse today at 3. See you there.

At the scrimmage in Hanover, VA on Saturday, we found a few electrical and mechanical problems that we needed to address. As of last night (Sunday), we believe we have all the bugs out of our robot. We'll go back to Hanover this afternoon for one last run before putting it in the box.

In the past two weeks, we've gotten the prototype "poker" and arm to work, taught legislators and technical business owners about FIRST, and helped build walls for the Hanover practice field. It's been a challenge to fit it all in!
Only 4 more days to build on the robot!

I have some exciting news to share with all of you. Just a few days ago we were invited to attend a conference with over 300 engineering and technology based companies across Virginia. That means we will be able to share our message of FIRST with all sorts of companies from all over, and help people further their understanding of what we do. I will let you know more details as they arrive!
