Welcome

Hello and welcome to the MidloCANics web page.  We are Team 1541 FIRST Robotics based in Midlothian, Virginia and our mascot is the “Can Man”.  We’re proud to compete in events sponsored by FIRST: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. 

Being winner of the FIRST Underwriters Laboratories Industrial Safety Award two years in a row has taught us some important lessons. With those two years have come almost no injuries (except for the occasional “boo boo” ). We hope to share some tips with all teams who want to know more about safety.

Our quote this year is “We CAN do it.” We have decided to use the words often associated with World War II icon Rosie the Riveter as a salute to women in the workforce, especially the “MidloCANics” everywhere.

 

 

 

Team 1541 anticipates an exciting FIRST 2009 competition. The game this year, Lunacy, is played on a low-friction field, adding to the complexity.  Teams are given a specific set of wheels for their robots and must build a hitch for their trailer which will be provided for them. Lunacy is played with three round orbs known as Moon Rocks, Empty Cells, and Super Cells.  The object of the game is to get as many of the game pieces into the opposing teams trailers. Which ever Alliance has the least amount of game pieces in their trailers wins.

MidloCANic Team 1541 is looking forward to a challenging and interactive competition!
